Continuously variable proportional circle map

http://geea.lyellcollection.org/content/10/2/99.abstract

This is a map of ground water of the Atacama desert in Chile. There are different circles accompanied with symbols showing the areas of the Atacama desert that have groundwater in it. What makes this continuously variable is that it uses circles to make point data.  Enjoy!!!
