This is an example of a map where the use of GIS help to identify areas of high criminal activity in the San Francisco area. The San Francisco police department use this map to pay extra attention to those areas of elevated criminal activity.There are a rash of crimes in the upper eastern part of the map of San Francisco. This is a blot map because there are blots that have colors where there is crime.
